Norman / Norman captures the journey of Norman Jr. as he investigates his past and the details surrounding the brutal killing of his mother, Desiree Davy, in Philadelphia in 1991. After spending most of his life as an orphan, with little contact from any family members, Norman has limited information from his childhood, especially about his parents’ relationship. With help from his aunt, wife, and in-laws, Norman gradually reconstructs his remarkable journey from orphan to father of four.
Utilizing a countdown structure, directors Blackwood and Warburton provide a tense crescendo set against the stunning backdrop of the Jamaican countryside as Norman Jr. travels to meet the only person who holds the answers: his father, the murderer. The film offers a profound examination of a father and son who’ve lived a life apart, as well as the costs endured for those most intimately involved.
